The Doctor catches the bus
The mellifluous tones of former Doctor, Tom Baker, has provided the voiceovers for a series of amusing TV adverts for Dundee-based Stagecoach.
The campaign was devised by the Leith Agency and the ads were directed by Damien O'Donnell, who worked on Leith's Irn-Bru campaign.
Initially the three 40-second adverts are being shown in the Anglia West TV region which covers Peterborourgh and Cambridge. However, the company plans to roll them out nationally if they prove successful.
The ads feature Gayle Windybottom, an environmentalist, who uses a park and ride service. However her love of lentils mean fellow passengers have to endure a different type of noxious emission. The other characters are a nutty professor and a fashion-conscious WAG.
Stagecoach believes that increasing congestion and rising environmental awareness, mean there is huge potential to get more people on board the nation’s buses.
Brian Souter, Stagecoach Group Chief Executive, said: “This is a completely fresh way to market public transport and a first for the UK. Buses are for everyone and carry a diverse range of customers from lots of different backgrounds.”
